RevenueStadia is an IoT-enabled property management platform built to help landlords and property managers automate utility billing, maintenance tracking, and service requests across residential and commercial units.
Key Features
Utility Monitoring: Real-time water and power consumption tracking per unit
Smart Meter Integration: Seamless communication with IoT water/power meters from multiple manufacturers
Automated Billing Engine: Generated usage-based invoices with historical trends
Maintenance Workflow: Residents could report issues; maintenance was tracked to resolution
Dashboard & Analytics: Integrated with Grafana for admin-side insights and forecasting
My Contribution
Designed the system architecture from scratch and implemented all features end-to-end.
Built a scalable microservice structure to support meter integration and user interactions.
Integrated APIs with diverse meter vendors to allow real-time data exchange.
Implemented secure RBAC and CI/CD pipelines for stability, fast releases, and role-based access.
Challenge & Resolution
Challenge:
Initially, the system experienced scalability issues when integrating hundreds of smart meters concurrently, leading to latency and queueing problems.
Resolution:
Redesigned the backend architecture to support asynchronous processing and event-based data ingestion. Introduced queue workers and optimized the database schema resulting in a 4x improvement in performance under load.
Outcome
Went live within 3 months.
Onboarded the first batch of property customers by September 2021.
Now manages 2,000+ housing units with active smart meter integration.
Recognized internally as a model for smart utility billing innovation.
